all dogs in some way shape or form will grow in, and shed out a winter coat. but that comes and goes with the cold season.

i find that beagles and especially pugs will shed a lot year round.

I am in the market for a low allergy/non shedding dog.What would you recommend?

First off allergies to dogs and cats are breed specific.-- The ones that tend to cause the least amount of reactions are the hair breeds-- They are as follows: Shih-Tzu, Lhasa-Apso, Silkie,Yorkie, Bichon-Frise (arguably the best), Maltese , and poodle. Some people with allergies find that terriers cause them no problems (such as a schnauzer--miniature to giant sized) the terriers do technically shed. Most of the dogs above can be over 10 pounds-- Just depends on breeding. The best way to find out what will work for you is to go to breeders, play with the type you are looking at, then go home and see if you react-- There is no guarantee you won't develop problems, but at least if you react after a few hours-- you'll know to stay away from that breed.
P.S.-- the dogs listed in your post are mixed breeds-- It's a new trend. Make sure you don't get a dog that sheds mixed with a poodle such as a labra-doodle-- You'll likely have shedding and allergy problems

Im looking for a medium-large hypoalergenic/non shedding dog that we can take care of thats not too expensive?

goldendoodles are the true mixed breed ....a friend of mine has 2 now for years he had to take allergy shots..he got a goldendoodle 2 years ago hasn't took one shot.. ended up buying a female later..he's talking about getting into breeding them...

Anyone have a NON-SHEDDING DOG that they want to give to a good home?

first of all there is no such thing as a NON shedding dog. all dogs shed, some more than others. even humans shed hair, and have dander!

there are LOW-sheding dogs. like the poodle or Bichon.

i would recomend you go through a rescue group. they have WONDERFUL dogs..that have been temperment tested and fixed, and all the shots are done.

those dogs come from puppy mills...they are horrible places that breed dogs 24/7 all year round! the do NOT health check their dogs..they are in it for PROFIT only. and you will end up with a VERY sick pup! or one that has been inbreed, or born with birth defects or serious medical conditions.


think of an adult dog to adopt! most of them are already done with the puppy stages (which can be difficult with small children), puppies bite, chew, pee everywhere, need shots every few months, need to be fixed, have to go through purberty and house training, obedience training...etc etc. ITS LIKE HAVING A TODDLER! and adult dog is has already gone through that...AND YOU WILL KNOW THE TEMPERMENT OF AN ADULT DOG!!! were with a puppy...you never know till they have matured.
and what if that cute little pup doesn't like the rough handling of a 5 yr old. I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT i have 2 boys, ages 10 and 8.
you MUST teach your child to respect a dogs space. this is the CAUSE of dog bites towards children. adults don't teach their children how to respect a dogs space and then don't supervise them together.
i have 7 adult dogs at my house *3 are SPCA foster dogs, one had 8 pups*, my children are NEVER alone with the dogs. if they go outside...I GO OUTSIDE!
do i trust my dogs? YES! do i trust that my kids will respect their space and make a good judgement about playing with them? ehhhh kinda! i know that they are still just kids, and they will test the bounderies.


puppies aren't just fun little fluffy toys. they grow up to be dogs...with sharp teeth and they WILL use them if they feel threatened or frightened.

Non shedding dog which resembles golden retriever, labs, or german shepherds?

The following dogs are considered low dander allergy coated dogs, not all are large, but thought you may want the list:
Bedlington Terrier
Bichon Frise
Irish Water Spaniel
Kerry Blue Terrier
Maltese
Poodles
Portuguese Water Dog
Schnauzers
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

If this is because of allergies, beware that you can be allergic to several things, dog dander, dog saliva or even dog urine it is best to visit breeders homes and check your reactions first.
Visit the breeder's home and tell the breeder about your allergies. Hug and kiss the dogs, rub your nose into their fur, and breath the air in the room where they live. Let the dogs lick your bare skin, especially on your neck (if you are brave) and inside your arms where the skin is more sensitive. You want to test your allergic reaction both to the dander and saliva. This will help you to evaluate your current allergic reaction to that particular breed.
